Many gym feature QR codes to track machine usage.

You can even print QR codes for your own equipment at home including free weights.

Here is an easy way to implement this in Iron, without maintain a database of machines, and without asking people using the app to send back telemetry:

1. Add a QR icon here
   
2. After scan, say "please enter details, unknown machine" (it may even let you leave a comment with the machine type)
3. After details entered save to local database
4. Next time scanned say "found machine: hammer press, confirm? YES / NO"

I go to different gyms and frequently forget how I entered a specific machine in there. So this would allow me to scan each time and lock it in.
