What happened?

BetterCaputure crashes when closing the Content Filter / Frame Rate / Codec sub-menus

What did you expect to happen?

The sub-menu closes without crashing the program.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Click on e.g. the "Content Filter" sub-menu
2. Click on e.g. the "Content Filter" sub-menu again

(Captured with another program since, well BetterCapture is crashing)

Thanks for reporting this. Can you please upgrade to 2026.1.4 and let me know whether the issue still persists?

edit: I was not able to reproduce it with the latest version v2026.1.4. I will give it a try with the version you mentioned to see what's causing this.

I just noticed that the program also crashes when I actually change settings:

• Toggling things under Content Filter does not cause a crash.
• Changing e.g. Frame Rate from within BetterCapture > Settings > Video also does not crash the program
• Toggling the Container sub-menu does not cause a crash

This is indeed very strange. Since you are able to change settings through the Settings menu it seems that's it not related to the storage of the settings. The underlying mechanism is actually the same. I need to check if there is anything in the MenuBarSettings that can cause a crash. I'm not able to reproduce this on my machine and I don't have any crash reporting implemented yet, so this might take some time to debug.

In case you have xcode installed, you could try to build and run the latest version and check if you see anything in the logs.
