Grott as Modbus application

First of all thanks for your Great work. I used Grott over a year now without hassle, but the fact that the Stick stops sending ANY data, If the Connection to China does fail, makes me stop lately.

I connected a serial cable to my growatt to get the data over modbus. Now I get data all the time.
BUT.
My wife loves the graphics and data wrangling of the shinephone App. So I am looking for a way to get the growatt data to china over modbus without a Stick.

Is it possible to alter grott somehow that it works over modbus without a shine stick so that I can maintain my direct serial connection but do not loose the ability to send data to the growatt servers?

This would be Amazing.
