We recently introduced CodeRabbit into our workflow to provide quick code reviews. We haven't yet evaluated how useful its feedback is in practice.

Please share your experience with CodeRabbit on recent PRs.

CodeRabbit reviewed my recent PR, and while it provided some helpful suggestions around formatting and clarity, most of the feedback was relatively minor. It didn’t catch any significant issues and occasionally added a bit of noise. Overall, it’s useful for small improvements, but may need tuning for more meaningful reviews.

Coderabbit also helps me in my code reviews , Improving my code quality . It's a fantastic tool , but... I have made some research on it , Like how we can make it more faster , how we can make it a good deep thinker Here's what I found-

At first , I searched coderabbit in my browser , I got to know about coderabbit .yaml file , which generally consists of rules coderabbit follows when processsing a PR , we can also take a look on this file by simply commenting @coderabbit configuration on any PR as I did here . Now researching about this file , I found there are several ways which we can use to Make coderabbit more stronger.

1. Changing it's profile to assertive from chill : By default, CodeRabbit acts in a chill mode. We can force it to be much more analytical, strict, and actively block PRs that contain logical bugs by modifying its review profile.

2. Make it Faster and Reduce Noise : CodeRabbit comes with every kind of linter turned on (PHP, Swift, Ruby, etc.) and generates a fun poem for every PR. Since we are a TypeScript/React project, we can speed up the AI's processing time and keep the PR interface clean by turning off what we don't need.

3. Actively Prevent "Formatting-Only" Diff Noise : Sometimes PRs get cluttered because a developer's editor formatted spaces/tabs differently. We can give CodeRabbit specific path instructions to act to reject these noisy changes.

I took a look at how coderabbit handled my recent PRs (#249 and #290 ).

For localized logic, it’s really solid. In #249, it correctly spotted a potential double fitView call and some missing hook dependencies. also caught a typo in #290.

that being said, it completely missed the UI flickering issue in #249 (which @AgniveshChaubey had to catch). Since it only reads the code and doesn't actually render it, it couldn't catch the race condition causing the visual glitch (because of the development environment on my local machine) . fixing that required waiting for the DOM to actually measure the elements.

my take - definitely worth keeping for basic checks. It catches standard errors and saves maintainers time. We just need to keep in mind that it wont replace human eyes for UI bugs or deeper architectural context.
