Location, access and useful objects in the neighborhood

This page documents the location of Hakierspejs and its neighborhood from the perspective of public transport access and other venues.

Accurate address

Our HQ does not have a strict apartment number, so our address is something like this:

Car access

A single car can be parked in the backyard of our building – contact someone of the members who is currently inside (or let us know on Telegram/Matrix/IRC, or call the telephone located inside: +48 42 203 20 50) – we will open the gate for you if our parking space is free. Beware – the gate is a tight fit for a car.

Another option is to park in the Barlicki square (Zielony Rynek / Green Market), but those parking spots are within the paid parking zone – we are in the sub-zone B. If you have no idea how long you are gonna stay, instead of using the parking meters, we recommend payment with the CityParkApp or SkyCash apps. As opposed to the parking meter, they don't force you to declare the duration. You just click "start parking" and later "end parking", and you get automatically charged for the parking from your credit card or a virtual account in the app. Mind that parking is free of charge after 6 PM every day as well as all the day on weekends and public holidays.

If you are arriving at the Space from the eastern direction, beware of the Zielona street closure at the intersection with Zachodnia and Kościuszki. We recommend Więckowskiego (from the north) and Andrzeja Struga (from the south) streets.

On foot / by public transport

Arriving at HS on foot, by bicycle or riding an e-scooter, beware of the Zielona street closure at the intersection with Zachodnia and Kościuszki. It is impossible to access Zielona street at this intersection not only by car, but even on foot, by bicycle or on an e-scooter! You have to bypass the construction zone with one of the neighboring streets: 6 Sierpnia or Więckowskiego.

The current road works in the city drastically change the way to access the HS by public transport.

Trams

Because of the underground train station construction under Zielona street, there are no trams on it. The nearest operational tram stop is Gdańska/Zielona.

We want to remind those who want to access HS from the tram in Zachodnia and Kościuszki streets (e.g. trams 2, 3, 11) that there is NO access along Zielona street from Kościuszki to Wólczańska – you have to walk along Więckowskiego or 6 Sierpnia! You can leave the tram going north at Więckowskiego. The walk from Zachodnia/Kościuszki to the Space is about 800–1000 metres!

Buses

Departing from the stops at Barlicki Square – right at the HS.

Night buses

750 m from HS, in Kościuszki street between Zielona and Andrzeja Struga (the best is to walk along 6 Sierpnia street – beware of the lack of access along Zielona street), there is the central night bus stop, from which the buses depart to all the boroughs in the city.

Slightly nearer – at Więckowskiego/Pogonowskiego, 350 m from HS, you can board the night bus N3 towards Koziny, Cyganka, Teofilów.

550 m od HS-u, at 1 Maja/Pogonowskiego, you can board N3 in the opposite direction – towards the city center (around Galeria Łódzka), Kilińskiego street, pl. Niepodległości/Independence Square, Chojny, Kurczaki.

Trains – access to HS from train stations

  • Ł. Fabryczna station – directly by bus Z13 (direction of Legionów/Włókniarzy – the eastwards stop), we leave at pl. Barlickiego
  • Ł. Kaliska station:
    • from the stop in Bandurskiego Avenue – tram and bus combined stop, right under the train tracks: the bus 65B (direction of Radogoszcz Wschód) or the bus 86 from the same stop, we leave at pl. Barlickiego – it's the recommended option (most frequent departures)
    • from the stop in Włókniarzy Avenue – bus stop at the nearby large street with a road overpass, the stop on the opposite side of the street from the station: the bus 65A (direction of Radogoszcz Wschód), we leave at pl. Barlickiego – at the same stop, the buses 65B and 86 are also available
  • Ł. Widzew station:
    • it's probably most convenient to switch to any local train to the Łódź Fabryczna train station (all local trains accept the city public transport tickets and special local zone tickets for those trains are also accepted in the city public transport; both types of tickets cost the same) and switch there to the bus Z13 (see above)
    • another option is a tram ride with a transfer to a bus, e.g.
      • walk to Rondo Inwalidów, board the tram 10A/10B towards Retkinia, leave at Żeromskiego and switch there to the tram 15/17 to Telefoniczna Zajezdnia, leave at Gdańska/Zielona
      • walk to Rondo Inwalidów, board the tram 9 to Helenówek, leave at Tuwima on a road bridge, under which we board the bus 83 in the western direction; we leave it at pl. Barlickiego
      • walk to Rondo Inwalidów, board the tram 6 towards Zgierz; we leave at Zachodnia/Więckowskiego, from where we have about 800 m to HS – you can walk or foot, have a ride on a city bike or an e-scooter, or switch at the same intersection to the bus Z13 going in the western direction (to Legionów/Włókniarzy), from which we leave at pl. Barlickiego
      • the walk to Rondo Inwalidów can also be replaced with a bus 75A/75B ride, for example to the Rokicińska/Maszynowa stop (or any other up to Piłsudskiego/Śmigłego-Rydza) – where a transfer to one of the trams: 10A/10B, 9 or 6 is possible; at Śmigłego-Rydza it's also possible to transfer to the bus Z13, which goes directly to Space

By bicycle

The nearest stations of the Łódź Public Bike (the city bike rental system):

  • 26 – Plac Barlickiego (Mała at Zielona) – 15 stands – 170 m from HS
  • 70 – Pogonowskiego/6 Sierpnia – 12 stands – 400 m from HS
  • 23 – Żeligowskiego/Zielona (plac Hallera) – 15 stands – 500 m from HS

A private bike can be parked in the backyard of our building, or inside the Space (though there is no much room for that).

Stores

Grocery

  • Biedronka in Żeromskiego street

  • market on Barlicki Square (Zielony Rynek) – in the halls, there are grocery stores and bakeries

  • at Barlicki Square, there is also a Żabka (a convenience store) and a long open independent grocery store (Bene Delikatesy)

  • Netto in Gdańska 81 (8 min. walk)

  • Lidl in Żeromskiego 48 (2 min. walk)

  • the nearest huge supermarket is Auchan in Manufaktura – 2.5 km away by car, 2 km on foot, the public transport is problematic (it probably makes most sense to walk to Gdańska/Zielona – 300 m, by tram to Gdańska/Legionów – 3 min., then on foot to Manufaktura – 250 m and though the whole Manufaktura to Auchan – 500 m)

  • a better connected huge supermarket – Auchan in Pasaż Łódzki – 3 km by car, same far on foot; direct access by the bus 65A – 10 min. (or 65B, 86 or tram 5 with a transfer to the bus 52 or 93 at Ł. Kaliska train station; currently the bus 65A departs every half an hour)

Other

  • DIY store – Leroy Merlin in Manufaktura (like above – physically it is right under Auchan); Castorama and Obi nar Pasaż Łódzki (the same access)

  • consumer electronics supermarket – nearest by public transport: Saturn in Manufaktura, at the other end there is RTV Euro AGD, in Pasaż Łódzki there is also an RTV Euro AGD; Media Markt in Galeria Łódzka, Media Expert in Sukcesja (currently closed because of the bankruptcy of Sukcesja)

There are some in Żeromskiego street towards Barlicki Square.

At the corner, in Żeromskiego street, nearly right opposite to the market, there is a Zahir Kebab.

Pizza

There is a Biesiadowo leaflet in the Space. We are covered by their deliveries.

Polish cuisine

"Zielona Mila" nearly just opposite the Space. It's edible and it's open until 6 PM on business days.
