Customizable grid and label steps for X-axis

It would be useful to have an options to adjust the grid step and label step for X-axis similar to the existing yStep option for Y-axis.
The attached image shows a graph generated using RRDtool. On it, the X-axis labels every hour over a more than daily interval. I haven't found a way to achieve this with Graphite.
