I am having an issue with the GoPass Bridge extension not working on my second PC. I have 2 PCs running Ubuntu 22.04, Firefox 108.0.2 installed via snap, gopass 1.15.3, gopass-jsonconfig 1.15.3 and the gopass bridge extension 0.9.0.

On one PC, the extension is working as expected, but on the other PC, it is not working. I want to troubleshoot this issue to see why it is not working on the second PC or why it is working on the first one. In theory, it should not work due to the limitations of snap, but it is working on one of my PCs. Can you please assist me in resolving this issue?

Steps to reproduce:

Install Firefox 108.0.2 via snap on a PC running Ubuntu 22.04
Install gopass 1.15.3, gopass-jsonconfig 1.15.3 and the gopass bridge extension 0.9.0
Try to use the extension and check if it is working as expected.

Expected outcome: The extension should work as expected and allow me to access my gopass passwords.

Actual outcome: The extension is not working on the second PC.

Notes:

I have tried reinstalling the extension, but it did not resolve the issue.
I have also tried using different browsers, but the problem persists.
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Platform: Ubuntu 22.04
Browsers: Firefox 108.0.2 (Snap)
Gopass version: 1.15.3
gopass-jsonconfig version: 1.15.3
GoPass bridge version: 0.9.0

Thanks in advance!

I've never used firefox with snap but from what I read, the snap only recently got access to the host via native messaging.

From my understanding, you need to make sure that both systems

  • have a firefox snap installed to support this
  • both have a Host Connector (see link) installed

You could try to run the gnome shell extension to ensure that native messaging is working on both devices.
