JBL Clip 5

Hi,

When I try the steps described in the Auracast guide (https://google.github.io/bumble/apps_and_tools/auracast.html#jbl) for my JBL Clip 5, it seems that the speaker crashes.
How did you "reverse engineer" the JBL GO 4? What should I look for in the Ellysis Airtraces?

Do you mean that the JBL Clip 5 crashes when you press the auracast button to join a broadcast?
For the JBL GO 4, I found the manufacturer data by looking at the advertising data (you should be able to see the advertising data by using the scan.py app). For this, you need to put the speaker in broacast mode: stream some audio to it from a phone, then press the auracast button, it will start broadcasting (you can also use the auracast scan command from the auracast.py app to see details about the broadcast).

I would assume that the advertising data would be identical between JBL models, so they can broadcast/receive across different models of the brand. So if that's the case, the manufacturer data that works for the JBL GO 4 should also work for the Clip 5.

Yes, I checked and the advertising data is identical.
I can see that the Clip 5 after sometime searching for the auracast source, it becames irresponsive (it loses the Classic BT connection to my phone) and then it powers off. I need to manually turn it on.
I was just wondering if JBL could be doing something else in addition to the Manufacturer Data, but based on your reply, you are not aware of anything else.

When you press the Auracast button on the JBL speaker will only try to receive a broadcast if there is no BT Classic connection active (from a phone for instance). If there's a classic connection, it will go in transmit mode instead. So make sure you're disconnected when you attempt to receive.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I only found time to work on it during my easter break.
I figured out that the JBL Clip 5, only works with a presentation delay of 80000 instead of 40000.
Once, I changed that I got it to work, (even with a BT Classic Connection).
