Description of the bug:

I build an chat app on Gemini. I use gemini-2.0-flash-exp with files uploaded using genai.upload_file().

The error occurs more or less randomly. It seems to happen when I open my app in multiple browsers and/or chat for several rounds. And it seems to occur in Safari on iphone more often than other browsers on a PC. But I am not positive.

I saw similar bug reports in the past several months:
#617
Google AI Forum thread

I guess bugs like this would heavily affect Gemini’s usability and adoption. Please check and fix the problem. thank you!

BTW, I tried to post similar report in the Google AI Forum thread. But it has not been approved so far.

Actual vs expected behavior:

#617 was a bug in the API, that has since been fixed.

Is this still happening? Anymore clues on how to reproduce it?

Remember uploaded files only have a TTL of 2 days IIRC, are you sure the file hasn't just been cleaned up?
