Reaction from the githubnext Discord server: The key improvement from a UX perspective: removing the need for you to supply a GitHub token in order to use Copilot as the source of inference. It should "Just Work Out of the Box™" I can't speak to stability of the workflow format and CLI behavior. Generally speaking, breaking changes are possible anytime before GA. It's mostly "how much heads up do we need to give everyone before breaking something". Prior to GA, we make a best effort. Post GA, there are probably rules about how quickly we can change behaviors (outside of emergencies). In any case: we have no desire to make anyone's life difficult. Presume that we'll be thoughtful about this stuff! As for investment: the fact that there are multiple teams at GH (not just Next, but also our colleagues in the Actions org) working on this and pushing towards GA is the realest signal of commitment. Graduating into Public Preview is step 1, GA comes after that and we're already preparing for that future. So I'd say "very high intent" 😂 |
