Is the Community Edition fading away?

I know Pangolin offers two editions - Community (default) and Enterprise. The way I understood it at first was that most features were going to be available in the Community edition while business focused features (that most individuals would have no use for, e.g. usage at scale or advanced team management) would be available in the Enterprise edition but lately it feels like more and more features are Enterprise only.

Looking through Pangolin's dashboard, it looks like half the features are only available in the Enterprise edition. Maybe I'm an outlier but features like device approvals, device security, private HTTP resources, alerting or security settings (and perhaps even some of the logs like network logs) are features that would be useful for regular users too.

I know individuals are allowed to use the Enterprise edition for free but some would rather stay with the open source (Community) licence. Is there a reason why quite a lot of newer features are locked behind the commercial (Enterprise) licence even though they don't seem to be particularly geared towards (larger) businesses?

We are fully committed to maintaining the Community Edition. Our general philosophy is to keep core functionality in the CE while reserving more advanced features for the EE.

We feel the license exception for free personal use is the best way to support the project’s long term commercial health. It allows individuals to access every feature without cost. If you prefer to stick strictly to the open-source license, we respect that choice, though it does mean missing out on some of those advanced tools.

I definitely appreciate your work and your decision to at least provide all features for free personal use under the commercial licence, I was just a bit confused by the "Enterprise" name as I expected it to provide primarily business (well, enterprise) focused features and not just about everything outside of core functionality. With that being said, I do understand your reasoning as long as the licence exception for personal use isn't abolished in the future (like other projects did in the past).
