Markdown does not render in DM message preview

Steps to reproduce

1. Send a DM to someone with -# ***__test__***
2. View preview in the DM list.

Expected behaviour

Message preview shows the bold italic underline: test

Actual behaviour

Message preview shows the raw markdown
