Docker compose error

Description

Hi! I pull the docker image and up all services by docker compose following the guide.

The Docker compose gives this error:

The service and Prometheus are not up.

Please do not open issues related to self hosting. It is mentioned in the README, and in the bug report template, requesting you to not do that.

About the error, you can see it in the logs

PANI[0000]main.go:788 setupDatabase Dirty database version 80. Fix and force version.

Something when you were trying to set this up caused your DB to be in an unexpected state. If you delete the docker compose cluster and bring it up again, it should work fine.

I've encountered a similar error, but have photos and can't delete the database volume, where do I proceed from here?

You can open a psql connection to your DB and modify the version in the schema table manually.

To open a connection, you can do docker compose exec -it --rm postgres sh and then run the psql command (if you're using podman, the equivalent would be something like podman exec -it ente-server-postgres psql -U pguser -d ente_db). See https://help.ente.io/self-hosting/administration/users#whitelist-admins for an example with more context.

To modify the schema table, you can do something like update schema_migrations set version = 104, dirty = false;. DON'T run that SQL unmodified, the version would depend on the exact museum you're running (you can look in the latest file in ente/server/museum to see which is the latest migration that should be applied). Currently for the code on main the version should be 104 - https://github.com/ente-io/ente/tree/main/server/migrations
