Unfortunately I have never used such a device and do not have access to one.
I'm interested to help you with this, though.

There's one way we could do it. If you attach your device to a box and give me (limited) SSH access maybe I can find out how this device works?

If that's ok with you, please note that I will also need the program minicom to test it.

which modem you work with? Reference?

This module was tested with several Huawei modems and none of them were multisim.

I think it was tested with E171.

The first thing is to identify the modem drivers in Ubuntu I run the command "ls -l /dev/tty*" in the terminal.
from the listed devices you can supply the code.

I have noted that the device may get different in different devices.
