Non JQuery dependant version?

Hi! You made a cool thing. Of course I'm here to ask for more stuff in an entitled way because...the internet. Is it possible to carve loose your code from JQuery so it can be used in other frameworks? Pointers to where the cuts would need to be made would help. I have my own set of saws but I don't know where stepwise ends and JQuery begins or what features would need to be copied to make it work (apparently the Google sheets thing is in JQuery which is a cool feature I'd miss). Thanks.

Thanks, glad you're digging it. There's a bunch of ajax, event handling, and simple DOM stuff that would probably be easy to disentangle... I imagine the tougher part would be dealing with the XML parsing and manipulation, since you get so much for free by virtue of jQuery's DOM handling. The Unity package in the repo has got a C# version of Stepwise in it that's VERY VERY far behind the current JavaScript code, but might be a useful place to start since it can't rely on jQuery... what frameworks are you looking to integrate with?

react(JS and native), closurescript/google's closure compiler, non jQuery focused backends probably running on node, Three.JS/A-Frame, etc. Admitted weird stuff. Any pointers on where to start de-jQuerification of the JS code other than just greping jQuery sounding terms? Or would re-implementing it using the C# example be simpler?

I think greping is probably the way to go. Reimplementing the C# version might be easier in the short term, but you won't be as well positioned to integrate future improvements...

Are you planning any big burst of development in the next couple weeks that will make my fork a pain to merge (in which case I'll make tiny pull requests for each little bit of de-JQuery-ization and drive you nuts) or not (in which case you'll get fewer pull requests to have to deal with that will do more)? Also would you prefer I make it a clear fork (not a seperate project but create seperate folders so people can pick and choose which version they want, which means more code to deal with but if mine lacks a feature or something it's no big deal)?

No big dev plans in the next few weeks, and yes, putting the new stuff in separate folders would be great. Happy hunting!
