Python error while installing on Linux Mint 22.2

Fresh Linux Mint 22.2 system.

install.sh fails on line 45 python3 -m pip install --upgrade pipenv

Same thing just happened to me on Arch:
Linux arch1 6.17.5-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu, 23 Oct 2025 18:49:03 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
I tried installing to a python venv but then I get:
Nov 05 14:09:15 arch1 (-manager)[3161]: arctis-manager.service: Unable to locate executable 'arctis-manager': No such file or directory
Nov 05 14:09:15 arch1 (-manager)[3161]: arctis-manager.service: Failed at step EXEC spawning arctis-manager: No such file or directory

I'm not a python coder so ignore what I said above about installing to a virtual environment. The author already does that. I do have a workaround for the "externally managed" issue though. I installed pipenv at the system level with "sudo pacman -S python-pipenv" and then commented out line 45 in install.sh (the one that read "python3 -m pip install --upgrade pipenv").

I had the same Python issues with the venv on Arch. I tried what you suggested and the install runs, but gets stuck on the service symlink. Running a journalctl -xe shows a timeout

Another thing I tried was creating the Python venv manually and updating the install.sh lines to be

    ~/python/venv/bin/pip install --upgrade pipenv
    ~/python/venv/bin/python -m pipenv install -d
    ~/python/venv/bin/python -m pipenv run pyinstaller arctis-manager.spec
    ~/python/venv/bin/python -m pipenv run pyinstaller arctis-manager-launcher.spec
    ~/python/venv/bin/python -m pipenv --rm

Which completes the installation, but neither my Nova 7X or Nova 7 WOW Edition (with the device and rules created) work. The service refuses to start.

I'm planning to move away from pipenv and use something different. When I started the project I used pipenv (which I find it quite powerful), but then PEP668 kicked in, and now things got a little complicated.

Other than replacing the venv manager, I'll need to start from scratch the packaging and install processes.

I'll make a mid-release to force-fix this, at least for the packages build, which is currently blocking even the build script, then I'll focus on refactoring the whole thing.

got almost the same issue on Arch, installing almost complete and failed to cp dist/arctis-manager.

This is something I definitively need to rewrite: the install script :D

I need first to fix the deb/rpm build, then I'll look into refactoring. I was even thinking about abandoning pyinstaller and install the sources directly, and adding an option to either "build" the dependencies, or having an option to let them be installed by the OS (for example python3-pyqt6 on fedora)
