Ouroboros Plugin - Artifact Roadmap

Generated: 2025-11-06 Analysis Context: Plugin workflow improvement suggestions

Overview

This document tracks suggested artifacts to enhance the Ouroboros Plugin's capabilities. The plugin currently provides comprehensive support for creating and validating Skills, but has gaps in Command, Subagent, and Hook creation workflows.

Priority 1: HIGH IMPACT

1. Command Builder Command

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Command Priority: HIGH Estimated Effort: Medium

What it does: Guides the creation of Claude Code Commands with step-by-step workflows, similar to how skill-builder works for Skills.

Example usage:

/build-command deployment

Benefits:

  • Fills the gap in artifact creation coverage (we have skill-builder but no command-builder)
  • Provides consistent guided workflow for Command creation
  • Ensures Commands follow best practices and correct YAML structure
  • Complements the existing skill-builder for complete coverage

Why HIGH impact: Currently have comprehensive support for Skills (skill-builder) but Commands require manual creation. Since Commands are a core artifact type mentioned throughout our documentation, having dedicated creation support would provide consistency and reduce errors.

Implementation Notes:

  • Model after skill-builder workflow
  • Include YAML structure validation
  • Add example command templates
  • Integrate with artifact-advisor and artifact-validator

2. Subagent Builder Command

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Command Priority: HIGH Estimated Effort: Medium-High

What it does: Guides the creation of Subagent YAML configurations with task scope definition, tool selection, and delegation patterns.

Example usage:

/build-subagent code-reviewer

Benefits:

  • Completes the artifact creation suite (Skills ✓, Commands ✗, Subagents ✗, Hooks ✗)
  • Helps users understand when to delegate to subagents vs using Skills
  • Ensures proper subagent configuration with appropriate tool access
  • Teaches subagent best practices through guided workflow

Why HIGH impact: Subagents are complex (require understanding delegation, tool access, isolation) and currently have no dedicated creation support. This would complete the core artifact creation triad.

Implementation Notes:

  • Explain delegation patterns
  • Guide tool access configuration
  • Include isolation best practices
  • Provide task scope templates

Priority 2: MEDIUM IMPACT

3. Plugin Quality Dashboard Command

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Command Priority: MEDIUM Estimated Effort: Medium

What it does: Analyzes all artifacts in the plugin, runs validation on each, and provides a comprehensive quality report with scores and improvement suggestions.

Example usage:

/plugin-health-check

Benefits:

  • Single command to validate entire plugin health
  • Identifies inconsistencies across artifacts
  • Tracks quality metrics over time
  • Catches issues before deployment

Why MEDIUM impact: While artifact-validator exists for individual artifacts, having a plugin-wide health check would improve overall quality assurance and catch cross-artifact issues.

Implementation Notes:

  • Iterate through all artifact directories
  • Run artifact-validator on each
  • Aggregate scores and findings
  • Generate summary report with recommendations

4. Hook Builder Command

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Command Priority: MEDIUM Estimated Effort: Medium-High

What it does: Guides Hook creation with security review checklist, event selection, and safety validation.

Example usage:

/build-hook pre-commit-validator

Benefits:

  • Completes the full artifact creation coverage
  • Built-in security review guidance (critical for Hooks)
  • Prevents common Hook mistakes
  • Documents required security considerations

Why MEDIUM impact: Hooks require security review and are less commonly used than Skills/Commands/Subagents. Important for completeness but lower frequency of use.

Implementation Notes:

  • Emphasize security review requirements
  • Include event type selection guide
  • Add safety validation checklist
  • Provide secure Hook examples

Priority 3: SUBAGENTS

5. Artifact Deep Analyzer Subagent

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Subagent Priority: HIGH Estimated Effort: Medium

What it does: Performs comprehensive, isolated analysis of artifact files with detailed quality assessment, cross-reference validation, and improvement recommendations without cluttering the main conversation.

Example usage:

User: "Analyze the artifact-validator skill for quality issues"
→ Subagent reads all files, checks consistency, validates structure
→ Returns focused report with specific line references

Benefits:

  • Isolation: Complex file analysis doesn't pollute main context
  • Deep reasoning: Can spend more tokens analyzing without impacting conversation
  • Focused output: Returns clean report instead of verbose exploration
  • Tool efficiency: Limited to Read, Grep, Glob - no accidental edits

Why HIGH impact: The plugin's core mission is artifact quality. While artifact-validator provides quick checks, deep analysis needs isolation. Complements /plugin-health-check by providing detailed per-artifact deep dives.

Implementation Notes:

  • Tool access: Read, Grep, Glob (read-only analysis)
  • Return synthesized report with line references
  • Check against all specifications in claude-expert
  • Identify improvement opportunities

6. Documentation Synthesizer Subagent

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Subagent Priority: HIGH Estimated Effort: Medium

What it does: Fetches, analyzes, and synthesizes multiple Claude Code documentation pages to answer complex questions requiring cross-referencing official docs.

Example usage:

User: "What are all the ways Hooks can access file system events?"
→ Subagent fetches relevant docs from code.claude.com
→ Cross-references Hook specs, event types, security guidelines
→ Returns comprehensive answer with citations

Benefits:

  • Isolation: WebFetch and analysis don't clutter main conversation
  • Thorough research: Can fetch 5-10 doc pages without overwhelming user
  • Synthesized output: Returns answer, not raw documentation
  • Reliable citations: Includes source URLs for all claims

Why HIGH impact: claude-researcher Skill provides basic doc lookup, but complex queries need synthesis. Users often ask multi-faceted questions requiring cross-referencing multiple documentation pages.

Implementation Notes:

  • Tool access: WebFetch, Read (for caching docs)
  • Cross-reference multiple documentation pages
  • Return synthesized answers with citations
  • Complement claude-researcher for complex queries

7. Artifact Migration Assistant Subagent

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Subagent Priority: MEDIUM Estimated Effort: Medium-High

What it does: Analyzes existing user-created artifacts and suggests/applies migrations when Claude Code specifications change or best practices evolve.

Example usage:

User: "Check if my old Skills need updating for new Claude Code standards"
→ Subagent reads user's Skills
→ Compares against current specs from claude-expert
→ Generates migration checklist with specific changes

Benefits:

  • Future-proof: Helps users keep artifacts up-to-date as Claude Code evolves
  • Non-destructive: Can analyze and suggest without editing
  • Batch analysis: Can process multiple artifacts in isolation
  • Educational: Explains why changes are needed

Why MEDIUM impact: Useful but less frequent than analysis or research. Most valuable during Claude Code version updates. Good for plugin maintenance, but not daily workflow.

Implementation Notes:

  • Tool access: Read, Grep, Glob, Edit (with user confirmation)
  • Compare against current specifications
  • Generate migration checklists
  • Apply changes with explicit user approval

8. Cross-Artifact Dependency Mapper Subagent

Status: 🟢 Completed Type: Subagent Priority: MEDIUM Estimated Effort: Medium

What it does: Analyzes all artifacts in a plugin to identify dependencies, overlaps, and optimization opportunities.

Example usage:

User: "Are any of my Skills overlapping in functionality?"
→ Subagent reads all Skills, Commands, Subagents
→ Maps trigger patterns, functionality overlap
→ Suggests consolidation or specialization opportunities

Benefits:

  • Plugin health: Identifies redundancy and gaps
  • Isolated analysis: Complex graph building doesn't clutter context
  • Actionable insights: Suggests specific refactoring opportunities
  • Scale-friendly: Works for plugins with 10+ artifacts

Why MEDIUM impact: Most valuable for mature plugins with many artifacts. Less useful for small plugins. Complements /plugin-health-check with relationship analysis.

Implementation Notes:

  • Tool access: Read, Grep, Glob
  • Map trigger patterns across Skills
  • Identify functional overlaps
  • Suggest consolidation or specialization
