Currently wire crosses and wire joins are drawn the same way. They can only be differentiated if the example CSS is applied and the user hovers over the wire so that the wires are highlighted. If the default styles are applied (no CSS), it is impossible to tell them apart. Drawing dots on connected wires is the standard and would make this difference obvious.
