I assume that most comfort devices are created and configured for an area e.g. the lounge, bathroom etc.
When creating cards such as graphs, sensors, tiles, headers etc, it would be convenient to refer to only 1 device and its sensors when getting "comfort" properties for an area i.e. the lounge comfort device provides dew point, relative humidity, perceptions etc as well as temperature and humidity. This is only a convenience that speeds up coding, because, currently, we need to refer to the original sensors for temperature and humidity which may have wildly different names or naming schemes.
The biggest benefit (to me) is that when changing the temperature and/or humidity sensors on which the comfort device is based, we only need to reconfigure that comfort device to use the new sensors, and the rest of the code and configuration remains the same.
