Vagrant has a pluggable architecture which supports the creation of virtual infrastructure using a selection of providers, and this isn't limited to just VirtualBox. Other common providers are VMware (either Fusion or Workstation), Hyper-V, and KVM.
It'd be good if dcos-e2e allowed for users to spin up a DC/OS environment on the virtualisation platform of their choosing, as long as it's supported by Vagrant.
