could. you please confirm the api for twitter, does not retrieve any protected tweets ?

It shouldn't. I'm fairly certain the Twitter API even disallows this. You can always test it by making a protected tweet, though. The bot only grabs new tweets that it sees appear while it is already running. It doesn't grab anything older.
