Is this plugin deprecated?

As I've seen this package is not updated for about 2 years, many non-provided packages is not included (such as sql-kafka) and a lots of other issues.

Does databricks have plan to continue it or we have to do old fashion?

Looks dead to me. Pointing to an empty repo: [error] not found: https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/spark-packages/sbt-spark-package_2.12_1.0/0.2.6/sbt-spark-package-0.2.6.pom (the spark-packages directory/repo does not exist).
