Virtually every server and CDN enables transparent GZIP or Brotli compression by default, including your demo site has GZIP enabled. Your LZ compression scheme is probably bloating your download size by making it harder for GZIP and Brotli to compress the files....
You can even precompress your assets at a higher-than-default compression ratio and many (most?) servers and CDNs will automatically serve the alternate file. Having these pre-compressed assets will signal to developers that the files are compressed in production and not to judge you based on the raw file sizes.
