basic width not working

When I use this very simple example, I always get no size. If I jsonify the size object it is {}. I started with rich components and all sorts of things and simplified it down to this.

I'm using:

"react-sizeme": "^3.0.2"`
"react": "^18.2.0",
 "react-dom": "^18.2.0",

Here is my simple example
