Compass aims to maintain a respectful, constructive community where people can use, discuss, and improve the project without harassment or intimidation.
Contributors and maintainers must:
- Discuss ideas and technical disagreements with patience and respect
- Critique work and decisions without attacking people
- Welcome questions from people with different backgrounds and experience levels
- Give credit, respect privacy, and correct mistakes openly
- Stop disruptive behavior when a maintainer asks
The project doesn't accept:
- Harassment, threats, stalking, intimidation, or deliberate disruption
- Discrimination or derogatory comments based on identity or personal characteristics
- Sexualized language, imagery, or unwelcome attention
- Publication of private information without permission
- Repeated personal attacks, trolling, or bad-faith participation
- Retaliation against someone who reports a concern
This policy applies to issues, pull requests, Discussions, reviews, project events, and other spaces where someone represents Compass. It also applies to private communication about project work.
Use GitHub's Report content control on the relevant issue, pull request, comment, or discussion. Select Report to repository admins when GitHub offers that option. GitHub documents the available paths in Reporting abuse or spam.
Don't use a public issue to disclose private details about a conduct incident. Security advisories are reserved for product vulnerabilities.
Maintainers will consider the context, impact, and pattern of reported behavior. They may edit or remove content, issue a warning, close an interaction, restrict participation, or escalate a report to GitHub.
Maintainers must apply this policy in good faith and avoid conflicts of interest. A maintainer involved in an incident should not make the final enforcement decision when another maintainer can review it.
