We're super excited to have @TeffenEllis return to Coder and join us part-time as a maintainer of code-server!

Hello everyone!

My name is Teffen and I’m an engineer at Coder. In the past, I occasionally contributed to code-server, but I’m happy to announce that this project is now my primary focus!

I often tell my friends that developing code-server with code-server is bit like Inception. It’s a challenging experience, but it’s given me a new perspective on just how much time and attention is put into VS Code’s architecture. All we have to do is allow that same editor to thrive in a browser environment.

code-server’s architecture reflects a time when VS Code only ran as an Electron app, but a lot has changed since then. As it turns out, much of the modifications we’ve made have been incorporated into Github’s Codespaces. And now we can learn from their approach, improve our own project, and contribute back upstream. This is exactly what makes open source so exciting to me — the collaboration.

My hope is for code-server to move closer to our friends upstream, and to make it easier for outside contributors to help us improve this project. Above all, our team’s mission is continuing to make code-server the easiest way to use VS Code in the browser.
