Understanding Loudness Normalization and Forced Volume

What do Improved Youtube's loudness normalization and forced volume settings actually do?
By turning off the loudness normalization toggle and setting forced volume to 100 I was hoping to get rid of youtube's built-in loudness normalization (which due to a long standing bug in Firefox on Linux changes the application volume in the system mixer). -- But it didn't have that effect. Are the options broken, or perhaps intended differently?

enhanced-h264ify used to be able to do this ("Disable loudness normalization"), but it's broken.
This tampermonkey userscript was the only thing I found that worked somewhat, but it usually needed a page refresh to catch, i.e. not applicable in practice.

FWIW I strictly deny your ad hominem attack and pathologization of the opposite party. It is utter nonsense. e.g. I did read the thread (though it mixes this issue with separate matters), and I can't self-answer questions that require knowledge of extension internals or development history.

Anyway, I've seen enough to decide to leave the repository and not use this extension.

Our volume feature works.
volume & volume normalization are very related. Besides sticking to youtube's GUI, is not the same as you hoped when setting volume to 100. Not everything is a single issue. or ready-made or solvable. That's where the fun / puzzling might start? Unless exhausted/torn. AFAIK Developers might have a tendency to self-neglect socially. We can open a debate-club too. No debate with sides started in my world in #1998. Have you thought about public services, fairness, respect today? You don't need to defend / deny, as if the whole world is judging you today.

...hi @mara004, didn't develope the volume features, not trying to win the "most normal maintainer"-badge, according to developers who might have time to feel most normal here or believe in the paradox being quiet while also serving a public task. 2. hi, i pointed you to the best thread for this (on github, likely). Didn't want to scroll enough there?.
An attitude of knowing better and ruling one's thread isn't rare, just paradox, not productive. (why didn't you answer it yourself better then already yet?. Might makes users wait longer for another fix. ) Having to care for users i might prioritize and not join every fantasy. Remember if you are demanding personal conversation, while that can be a good idea and you are worth it, maybe if not too urgent, private conversation can be nicer to start with? all the best!
