When a standard user is added to Drupal, no first or last name data is collected unless it's been custom configured. However, a Civi profile is automatically created with no first or last name data. When you view such a profile, the header has no name in it (and no indication that there is no name data). It looks like this:
When you edit the profile, Shoreditch appears to hide the fields that allow editing the first/last name, so this is not an option for editing. The user must know to mouse over the empty space right next to the "user" icon on the view screen in order to edit the name:
I suggest changing the display to show "[no name]" or something like that in the view screen, or at least an indicator of some kind that prompts the user to click to edit the name. You might also consider making it possible to at least optionally show the first/last name fields in the edit screen, because I've been surprised more than once by their absence, even as experienced as I am with Shoreditch at this point.
