Documentation on writing new formatters does not appear to exist

I'd like to create a new formatter form acrmp/foodcritic, but it's not immediately obvious how I would go about doing so. I can take another formatter and analyse it, but I would much prefer to read some documentation as that would be quicker.

I could give it a bash. I need to figure out how to make a new formatter first though. ;-)
