Reminder: back up your Charm Cloud data!

Hey everyone, here's a gentle reminder to back up your Charm Cloud data before we shut down the servers. In case you're wondering how, here's an overview.

Backup Skate

Backup Glow

Hit e to open your stashed files in an editor, then copy/paste the contents to a new file on disk.

Backup Charm Cloud

You can backup the Charm file store quite easily. Just copy the files to your disk with

mkdir ~/charm-backup && cp -r $(charm where) ~/charm-backup

(or any other directory path you'd like)

Updating Self-Hosted Cloud

If you decide to self-host Charm Cloud, start your server, then copy the backed up files to your self-hosted Charm Cloud with

charm fs mv -r $file charm:/
done

That will copy all files and directories to your Charm Cloud root directory. When you copy all of the files and directories with charm fs it also transfers your kv databases.
