Cloud-Init is not working on Ubuntu v20.04 and v22.04 and Debian 11, 12

Hi guys,

I am trying to provision a Ubuntu 22.04 OS Image based VM using Cloud-Init. But it seems to be not working. user-data config provided is not being applied via cloud-init. Is there a known issue for Ubuntu and Debian? Cloud-Init is working fine with RHEL, Rocky Linux, OEL and other OS, only problem is with Ubuntu and Debian.

I am trying to configure networking via networking script using runcmd command, which doesn't bring up networking.

Agreed, probably the best resource to check to validate user-data and behavior is using cloud-init debugging docs. If you come up with a symptom that is confusing please feel free to provide more information about that behavior.

I am trying to apply custom networking configuration using Cloud-Init using runcmd module. But cloud-init does not apply those custom configurations.

@ankush07-ntnx Please work through the debugging docs page and if that doesn't help make sure to share details from your findings: config, logs, etc. I am marking this as incomplete until sufficient details have been shared.
