**Syn-*what?***
Syntax is the set of rules for a language. We follow the syntax rules of English whenever we write or talk...
Try reading this: `hello? HOW ARE YOU TODAY!`
How about: `Hello! How are you today?`
With computers, we have to follow the rules perfectly or they'll get confused and not know what we mean!

# **Coding Concept:** Syntax
JavaScript has a few rules we need to follow:
1. Don't mix up capitals and lowercase - `setup` isn't the same as `Setup`
1. Functions have parentheses after their names - `draw()`
1. Parentheses `()` and curly brackets `{}` always come in pairs
1. Every line of code ends with a semicolon `;` - `someCode();`
<br>*...unless it already ends with a curly bracket* `someCode() {`
JavaScript doesn't care about extra spaces before our code though. That's just for us, and it makes it easier for our human brains to read!
