Using Quest3 and Virtual Desktop. After some issues with setting up VD, steamvr, r2modman, then just manually dragging the mod files found on the Git releases (0.9.19) into the Valheim folder, I got the game to launch and enter the main menu!

The issue is there is a large pink rectangle taking the place of what I can assume is the canvas:

I can move the controller pointers around, there is sound, but cannot play or click buttons because no menu.

you could try disabling that in vhvr's config file by changing the option UseAmplifyOcclusion to false

Hard to say what might be going wrong - typically stuff like this would mean some installation issue. Can you describe in detail how you installed? If you didn't, you should just unzip the mod zip file directly into the game install folder and overwrite any files.

From a fresh Valheim install (deleted all files and did steam verify files integrity).

I downloaded bepinex for Valheim from https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/denikson/BepInExPack_Valheim/ (manual), then extracted to Valheim root folder.

I downloaded this mod https://github.com/brandonmousseau/vhvr-mod/releases/download/v0.9.19/vhvr-0.9.19.zip and extracted the Valheim_Data/ to valheim_Data/, and the BepinEx/ to Valheim root (overwriting same-named files).

I start VD on the quest then click start SteamVR. Once there, I launch Valheim from the menu, loads a bit, then I get the same pink menu.

I then change the UseAmplifyOcclusion = false and start Valheim again.

Still getting the pink panel.

Ok I disabled Vulkan and now its working

Was getting curious about the shader loading errors above and found this https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/o0n538/need_some_support_with_error_on_mods/.

Oh - yes sorry, vulkan is unsupported - I'm actually surprised its launching at all as that used to just immediately crash to desktop

Todo:
Check if vulkan is selected and print a useful error message indicating it is not supported by VHVR and disable the mod when it is in use.
