Use /etc/os-release to unify install script?

I think I could work on this install script and get one install script to cover both Debian/Ubuntu and Arch (with easier expansion for other flavors later)... Any opposition to that?

As noted in my response to the other issue you submitted, I'm really not that interested in formally supporting arch myself, but equally I have no problem with someone who is more familiar with that distro taking on that task. By all means, make a proposal for an improved install script, but please make sure any distro-specific portions a clearly delineated and easy to maintain. Thanks
