Suggestions: Show Group Name

I am really digging in here and starting to use Frigate as my primary NVR from blue virus (iris). I want to post suggestions as I see them.

Today's is that I created a group and when I click on the group on the left it shows those cameras but there doesn't seem to be an indication of which group I am viewing. My suggestion is to show a title of the group name just above the group of cameras. Thanks!

One way to know what group you're viewing currently is to look at the group icon in the sidebar. Your currently selected group is highlighted. You can also hover over the icon and a tooltip will pop up with your group name.

Yes I see that - the icon is too small for my to have a usable version for "Front Outside" vs "All Outside' or something like that. Perhaps some color coding of icons. Can we upload our own icons?

I did notice the tooltip which is helpful. A Title would be even more obvious.

Another suggestion would be the ability to order metrics. For example it would be great to sort the list of cameras by a column in the storage section.

Also it would be great if we could pick a timeframe for the storage tab. I am trying to reduce storage space and playing with encoding types and other masks to reduce and identify the largest offenders of sucking up storage space. Thanks!

Hi another suggestion would be the ability to zoom in on the timeline to a finer granularity.

Also another thing that would be GREAT is a feature I used in the past on a Hikvision NVR where you could draw a line and if an object crossed the line - it would be marked as motion. I have a couple of scenes in the woods and I am trying to get to record the cars driving by - but not the branches blowing in the wind.

We're unable to respond to every suggestion or feature request from every user, but we do read them and take them into consideration.

Timeline zooming has already been implemented for the next version of Frigate, and Frigate uses zones rather than lines.

Hey guys I tried to setup a zone but I have a scene where I am trying to ignore the leaves and blowing stuff. I was hoping to get the object that crosses the line. Maybe I don't quite understand how to use the zones but I was hoping to have the same object from one zone to the other? I saw some other requests for line crossing. I had a zone called license plate (I am trying to make the cars going by) but its ineffective I'm afraid.

Another great suggestion would be the ability to reverse the direction of the playback.

This has already been suggested in the past. We've looked into it and unfortunately it's technically impossible to do this with video on web browsers.

However, you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move forward and backward. See this tip for more keyboard shortcuts: #16245

Oh that sucks. What about a scroll back and forth? 10 seconds is sometimes too long to rewind. I think with the zoomed in timeline this might become less of an issue.

The up and down arrow keys seek historical footage forward and backward by 1 second.
The left and right arrow keys seek historical footage backward and forward by 10 seconds.
