Describe the problem you are having

Thought I'd share my config for this model, which is apparently quite new. Just to be clear, my setup now works - just sharing to help others along and get any suggestions for improvement.

There's still very little information online about this model, even from the manufacturer website. It's currently not listed on the main website, but it can be found (along with some downloads) on regional sites. It's a dual camera system with one fixed camera and one motorized pan/tilt dome.

Since this is based on the same platform as Dahua I was hoping it would be perfect for Frigate, and while it does work the substreams are limited to a max of 640x480. There is very little in the way of tools and documentation available for this specific model, and the recommended "Imou Life" app doesn't let you configure much of the encoding options, just the built-in detection/alerting features (which I won't be using).

After some digging I found that:

You can use the same "SmartPSS" software that's used on other Dahua/Amcrest branded cams to manage the configuration.
The "ConfigTool" referenced at dahuawiki works, but is missing some options
There's an "Imou ConfigTool" which seems like an updated version of the above with some extra options, but not everything included in the previous two tools.

Using a combination (!) of those three tools AND the Imou Life app, I was able to:

Turn off the built-in detection, tracking, alerting
Change from h265 to h264 for the PT main stream
Turn off the "Imou" watermark in the bottom right corner
Remove the date/time display from the feed
Manually set the Iframe rate
Tune the color/white balance/etc settings

Since the sub streams are limited to a low resolution, I configured them this way:

Fixed camera: 720P 5fps main stream
PT camera: 2304x1296 15fps main stream, Onvif support

Then for the PT I'm using ffmpeg in the Frigate config to downscale to 720p and use that for the detect feed.

Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions, both on the Frigate configuration and on the camera..

Hi there,
I am just about to purchase one of this dual lens camera.
However I asked Imou technical support, she said onvif only supported on PT lens. therefore RTSP only work on PT lens.

Is it true ?

Can you view both fix and PT lens in frigate ?
If yes, how they are arranged ? one RTSP with stitched views ? or two RTSP for each lens ?

They are essentially two cameras, each with their own sub stream.
It's true that only the PT camera has onvif support, but both provide two separate RTSP streams (main + sub). Unfortunately the sub stream is VGA or lower, hence the ffmpeg config above.

Unrelated, but a new firmware (22.R build date 2024-05-24) appeared. The changelog just says "Bug Fix" so who knows - but I upgraded and it still works without any noticeable change on my end.

Hi Buzh,

this is an intended late post, because I want to know your review after days of use them.
Is it stable ? any crash ?
Because I imagine dual lens with main + sub streams , that one camera will give 4 streams at once.
Fix lens main stream, Fix lens sub stream , PT main stream, PT sub stream.

I am curious if it can produce all of them and stable.

It works well for me, no stability issues. The config/app are a bit lacking, but after I configured the camera for frigate use I've not had to touch it. To be clear I'm not using the sub streams as they are too low a resolution for my use case.

One thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is how to turn on/off built-in features such as the LEDs and alarm siren. Will try to snoop around using the "sofia" protocol when I have time, but if anyone has any pointers please share...

Are you able to move the ptz lens with Onvif directly in Frigate ?

Can you precise in your topic for each of them with which of the 3 tools you was able to do ?

Slightly off-topic, but where did you find the firmware download? I can't find anywhere. I have IPC-S7X-10MOWED and it is working fine with frigate. I added the onvif from your example, thanks.

Hi,

I bought two Chinese version Imou Cruiser Dual 2 (LC-S7XE-10M0WED) and could not register them with Imou Life:)
Hopefully I could initialized them using ConfigTool and change settings following your steps. Thank you.
One thing my cameras do not always switch off IR automatically after dark unless I reboot them and I set an automation in HA for this at sunrise.
Also I tried to set Autotracking in Frigate and it does not work.
Firmware version is 2.800.0000000.23.R 2024-05-28.

Bro i have same issue i bought 3 cameras from china and it's mainland china only locked if you find any solution regarding this kindly let me know because i am tired of using chinese imou app for this i want them to shifted of imou life app as my other cameras are on that app

I am afraid no way to unlock Chinese firmware cameras for Imou Life app because SN not registered in their cloud. Only Onvif which is very limited in these cameras (no auto tracking, no two way audio).

As I looking for Frigate, Home Assistant integration, these functions are via some proprietary protocol, not Onvif. I did not try "Sofia" protocol, is it supported?

I couldn't find any link for downloading EU firmware for Cruiser Dual/Dual 2.

Maybe the way is to import config from ImouConfig then decrypt (GitHub Dahua decrypt) it then change country/server and export back?
