Does aqmbc support the GEOS-Chem High Performance cubed sphere grid?

Hello,
We have been successfully using aqmbc to generate CMAQ boundary conditions from GEOS-Chem Classic output files. We are now experimenting with GEOS-Chem High Performance which uses a cubed sphere grid with optional stretching for higher resolution in targeted areas. I am wondering if aqmbc has the ability to process GCHP output files? and if not, can you provide any direction as to how we might be able to generate CMAQ boundary conditions from the GCHP cubed sphere grid?

It should be pretty straight forward, but takes a bit of prep work. I’m also making some other changes right now- so happy to add this. However, I’m on vacation until Jan 5. If you can wait, I can get pack to this then.

Otherwise, I’d recommend that you look at the readers for raqms or gcbench or TCR as templates ideas.

You should start in the v1rewrite branch. That’s where some new modes are working.

Thank you for the advice, I may take a look, but since we are not in a hurry, I think it will be best to wait for you to have a chance to take care of it in January - that would be great!

Could you post files for me to use as a test? I'm used to working with GCCClassic. Ideally, gchp will have the same collections options. I need a file (or files) that have gases, aerosols, and sufficient met to convert aerosol mixing ratios to concentrations (Met_PMIDDRY and Met_T). For testing, you could post a single day file that has just SpeciesConc_O3, SpeciesConc_SO4, Met_PMIDDRY, and Met_T. The SpeciesConc might be SpeciesBC if you are using the high resolution output collection.

Yes, I can post some files, I will do that later today. The default HISTORY.rc file for GCHP did not have a BoundaryConditions collection, and the documentation says BC is only applicable to GCClassic, so I created a new collection containing instantaneous SpeciesConc plus a few Met variables, trying to match what was used for GCClassic boundary conditions output. The outputs that I have now are individual 3-hourly files, on the C48 grid. Can you work with those or would you like me to combine them into daily files? Alison

Hourly works for me. Please post a link to three files that span a day (i.e., last hour previous day, mid hour center day, first hour next day).

I'll reply when I have retrieved the data.
