Hi folks, hopefully this is a fine place to link my new project.
https://github.com/jpcerone/BlinkLauncher
After switching to yabai (and leaning much more heavily on desktops/spaces), I found that Spotlight didn’t really fit my workflow anymore. Previously, I would fuzzy find an application with Spotllight and be done. But I quickly noticed that opening multiple firefox windows, or terminals, would break me out of my flow. I would have to touch the mouse to either interact with the dock, or drag a window in the Desktop I wanted it in. Assuming Spotlight opened a new window at all.
This is where Blink comes in. Blink defaults to asking applications to open a new window, assuming they're already open, by using the "-n" argument. Blink has a very narrow scope; Launch applications. It's not meant to replace Spotlight or Raycast. Blink is a complement to these already great, powerful tools.
If you want to find your open application, Spotlight. If you want to launch your application, Blink. I have Blink bound to option + space, and it's been brilliant for me.
The README explains it better :)
This application is already integral to my mac use, and I figure there are others like me who are wanting something like this.
Very much looking for feedback on my first project like this, and also wondering if there are other solutions to this problem that I haven't come across yet.
Thanks!
