If it could be useful it could probably be updated to modern versions of the various libs. This was part of the first Linux port, to get access to audio and midi i/o in that port. I haven't touched this code since audio and midi was completely redesigned, probably some time around 2015?, and Linux got supported along with the other OS'es.
