SLIM Working Group Call Summary – July 14, 2026

Key Topics & Outcomes

#1. Ecosystem Integration: DataWell Platform

Structural Intelligence: A community partner presented DataWell, an infrastructure monitoring tool described as an "MRI for infrastructure."
AGNTCY Integration: The platform integrates with the AGNTCY protocol to provide behavioral profiles and trust assessments for agents. This allows enterprises to evaluate agent performance and security via tailored reporting levels. The beta version is currently live for testing.

2. SLIM v2.0 & SlimCTL Group Verification

Group Verification: The SlimCTL commands for group identity verification have been successfully completed and merged. The control plane can now cryptographically verify that nodes belong to their claimed groups.
WebSockets: The final PR enabling browser-native WebSockets has been officially merged.
Ongoing Work: The engineering team is finalizing integrations with agent harnesses and addressing a few additional internal control messages required for SLIM node-to-node communication.

3. Release Process & Documentation

CI/CD Streamlining: Following the recent repository split (separating core SLIM from language bindings), the team is actively reviewing and streamlining the release pipeline to reduce developer overhead.
Documentation: The comprehensive V2 documentation PR is being continuously updated as these final features merge into the main branch.

4. Decentralized Networking & GossipSub Updates

Security Patch: A high-severity security issue affecting peer-to-peer networks using GossipSub has been patched in version 0.49.4. Upgrades are highly recommended for any related infrastructure.
Peer Discovery: The group discussed alternative peer discovery methods beyond standard bootstrap nodes, including mDNS (ideal for local environments), random walk algorithms, and rendezvous routing.
NAT Traversal: Extensive resources and specifications regarding NAT traversal (AutoNAT, circuit relays, hole punching) and WebSocket Secure were shared for potential integration into the SLIM ecosystem.

5. Kubernetes Implementation & IETF

K8s Service Discovery: The team discussed enhancements to SLIM's V2 implementation, specifically leveraging Kubernetes' native service discovery component for peer discovery within clusters.
IETF Vienna: The group highlighted upcoming presentations at IETF Vienna related to agent protocols (including DAWN for agent discovery/communication) and network observability.

Next Steps & Action Items

Partner Demo: Arrange a follow-up technical deep-dive session for a full demo of the DataWell platform's integration.
Alpha Release: Cut and publish another SLIM V2 Alpha release immediately to enable testing of the newly merged features.
CI/CD Optimization: Review and improve the automated release process across the split core and bindings repositories.
V2 Documentation: Update the V2 documentation PR to reflect the latest merged features and complete peer reviews.
Networking Research: Share and review resources regarding peer discovery, NAT traversal, and Kadimlia DHT usage via the GitHub discussion page.
