"Installing on an SSD" document is a bit outdated for Pi 5

2. A USB to SATA adapter

While I'm sure the advice to use a USB SATA adapter still works, the RPi 5 has native support for PCIe NVMe SSDs via special hats. This is an even better option and I feel it should be mentioned on the page since it is one of the first results when you google "how to install klipper on pi 5 ssd".

It may be the case that installing on one of those is basically the same. Just write the image on PC, take the SSD out of the USB adapter, and plug it into the Pi 5 hat. But I have not tried it yet. After I have done it I will try to update these docs.

If you want to be my test subject for this, i would greatly appreciate it. Mainly because i dont have any pi5's 🤣.

I've done this now. It turns out that you can install the normal way using a NVMe to USB adapter, but I didn't have one.

Instead, I flashed RPi OS (full) to a SD card, and then booted that with the SSD also plugged in to the NVMe hat. Then you install the rpi-image on the Pi desktop sudo apt install rpi-imager and run it as normal, and it gives you the option of selecting the blank SSD and image. Then you just power down and remove the SD card and it will then boot from the SSD.
