Freezes on network errors

so, i am getting this error message frequently today... yesterday i managed to download some stuff without problems. the error would show up but then it would go back to installing. but now, no matter which files i choose, the internal wut error message appears and it doesn't leave unless i force the wii u to turn off, stopping the download. is there anything i can do to fix this myself? i saw in another issue post that this wasn't a problem within the program. what can i do?

similar stuff here, but for me it seems to be a network error!

And I moved my Wii U to my Router, it’s sitting practically on top of it! No difference, the Network Error: internal WUT error comes randomly, (red screen) about 4 times, then the screen freezes and I need to hold down the Wii U Power Button until it shuts off!

After restarting NUSspli it starts were it left off, for example at 43% and then the error reappears every 1-5 minutes, for about 4 times before it freezes again. So a download showing 45 minutes, takes about 1-2 hours, with all the freezes and restarts!

The install runs perfectly, no freezes! Until you want to leave NUSspli and had 3 errors while downloading before, otherwise it shuts down normally and reboots the Wii U!

Btw it makes no difference if I download on my 1TB SD Card or my 32Gb USB Drive, error is the same.

Tomorrow I will buy a USB Network Adapter for the Wii U to test it without the WiFi and try to report back.

System and software:
Black 32Gb Wii U with Firmware 5.5.5.E (German), WUP-101(03), Aroma Beta-24 (2025-02-19) with the fixed "Failed to MemomoryAllocEX"-error,Plug-ins: Aroma Base 0.1.7, DRC Region free 0.2.2, ftpiiu 0.4.4, Homebrew On Wii U 0.1.8, Inkay 3.0.0, Region Free 0.2.6, SDCafiine 0.1.5, Swip Swap Me, Wiiload 0.2.4.

It is CafeOS returning "Non-supported option" (errno 92) to some WUT call (maybe socketlasterr? But that's really something for WUT devs to figure out, just can't pass the information forward as I'm banned there).

So you could make a report about this at https://github.com/devkitPro/wut/issues , for example

Putting metal objects (like a wifi router) on top of your Wii U will cause WiFi issues... ;)
The Wii Us WiFi is really weak.

Ok I will try, but they have some weird template and my english is not the yellow from the egg!

Btw the router and the Wii U don’t touch, there is a shelf (gap) in between them! And the Wii U will get the old place behind the TV back after wirering it to the LAN. XD

And behold the Amazon Sameday shipping! God damn it, before I saw your answer, there was no 20% off on the same product (UGREEN LAN Adapter USB 2.0)! -Could have bought some gummy bears

But yeah, I searched it to be Wii U and N. Switch compatible, before I bought it and it should arrive today and I will test if there is any difference with NUSspli. An original one on eBay is 30 Bucks or more.

Freezes might be fixed with v1.156. Could someone confirm, please?

Just tried v1.156 same issue, same error and same freeze after 3 or 4 red screens! Look at the screenshots…

But I found a workaround, kind of…and it’s annoying as hell and after 5 to 8 tries it freezes also!

When the red error screen appears spam B on the GamePad and wait 3-5 seconds, then just restart the queue pressing A and + on the GamePad. Meaning you can’t leave the download unattended.

Also this https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00MYT481C arrived yesterday but it doesn't work, so I will buy an original Nintendo Wii U LAN Adapter for 30-50 bucks from eBay and report back if it helps with the issue!

Ok, I tested the v1.157-ALPHA1 debug (no channel install) and it’s much better, I made a video late night, so you can see what’s happening now.

Were you would get a freeze 🥶 there is a message like when you start NUSspli, which takes about 2 minutes to go away, but it’s just some seconds and is able to recuperate!

So some content for the video, I downloaded the FIFA 13 (Demo)…again, it’s about 1 GB in size.
And left it alone, only one time I had to intervene and restart the Wii U, after a freeze, longer than 3 minutes! (freeze is roundabout minute 9 to 12)

And it went through but had a lot of hick ups with new messages I never had with the previous versions, just watch the video in 2x or scroll forward, it’s easy to spot.

Also to report, download seems slower than before, but much more stable and less error messages.

I left the footage alone no cuts from start to finish…

Still can’t test the USB LAN Adapter, sorry!

I removed the Jailbreak and tried to update the firmware but I’m on the 5.5.5.E already! Why you may ask, because I saw a video on YT were the original adapter only worked after a Wii U Update.

After resetting the console, it starts and you can see on the left bottom corner an icon with a USB device and a circle, like it’s installing something, but I can’t get a LAN connection in the settings, even when I delete all connections and have no Wi-Fi! Also tried all 4 usb connections on the Wii U with no avail!

So I really need to get my hands on an original Wii U USB LAN Adapter to see if it’s not the console who is bricked for LAN connections or something?

I have this problem as well... some observations regarding the error is, before the red screen, the download data (where is the mb) became just zero's for some seconds.

While it seems to be my internet provider, or router, is not.

That’s why I posted the video, easy to spot it goes to zero MB and stays there, then the WUT network error appears.

Sorry but I can’t download nothing with the Alpha 2 version! Not even a classic game with 90MB in size.

Some WUT network error like no connection every 3 seconds and goes into a loop without recovering, if you try to break the cycle with pressing the B Button, the time counter stops and you get a freeze!

So I’m back using the Alpha 1. it also freezes if you leave it alone to long and you can’t download stuff bigger than 4GB or you sit all day beside it restarting your Wii U.

So today I finally got my Wii (U) USB LAN Adapter from eBay and it worked flawlessly, plug ‘n pray 🙏 😅 connected and I could set up the MTU to 1500 so it matches my Router.

While testing NUSspli back on the v1.157-ALPHA1 debug, I could see no disconnects or WUT errors, like on WLAN and testing Bayonetta 2 DEMO (725Mb), the download showed speeds up to 28.73 Mb/s (3.60 MB/s)! Also looking into my router I could confirm around 25-30 MBit/s being used by the LAN! I downloaded it 2 times just to be sure, it’s like night and day, everything worked!

As you can see on the screenshots, no skips and no fezzes or restarts!

I don't see this mentioned here and I'm not sure it's the right place to put it, but as a workaround, I've found that downloading without installing and installing after for some reason seems to avoid the errors and associated crashes. Given that the crashes happen when in the downloading phase of download+install, I'm guessing the download phase is different to the "just download" process?
