This would strengthen UP as a standard, establish a trusted contract, improves adoption.

This came from a discussion around iOS support, which is blocked right now. Having it as a RFC would increase the weight if / when we request Apple to either directly support it, or allows services to unblock a OSS implementation; Or just create an incentive for them to do so.

I didn't get you were talking about iOS. UnifiedPush specifies OS specific IPC (Inter Process Communication) so it won't be useful as it is for iOS even if they remove their limitation on background processes.

Nevertheless, an RFC may help the project
