Currently all the compiler and options are contained in the Makefile.in and Makefile.in also contains object dependency. Changes are needed to put the compiler and options into a make.inc file and all the reset is kept in Makefile which should never be touched most of the time. @rajak7 will fix this issue and give detailed documentation.
