Subject: Inquiry Regarding Code Replication Issues for ICLR 2024 Paper #1

Description

@HayasakaI

Dear Dr. Liu,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am Hengqi Guo, a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at Fudan University. I have been studying your paper, "Image Inpainting via Tractable Steering of Diffusion Models," presented at ICLR 2024.
Your work has made a significant contribution to the field of image enhancement and inpainting, particularly with the Tiramisu method, which provides a novel approach to improving image quality. I found your idea of controlling the noise direction in diffusion models via TPM particularly inspiring, and your elegant mathematical proof is truly impressive. In my view, your method is one of the most outstanding I have encountered, and I am eager to extend it for other applications. To this end, I have been attempting to run experiments based on the code you provided.
However, I encountered some technical issues while trying to replicate the experiments using the CelebA dataset, and I was hoping to seek your guidance. Specifically, I am attempting to perform image inpainting on the CelebA dataset but noticed that the PC component related to this dataset is missing from the Google Cloud. When I followed the repository instructions to set up the necessary PC component for training, I received an error indicating a missing dependency package called cutlit. Based on the code structure, I suspect that this package might be similar to the taming module in the repository and should have been included in the project dependencies. I attempted to install it via pip from public libraries but was unable to find the package. I am wondering if this is due to an oversight on my part. If the package is indeed missing from the repository, would you kindly assist in checking and updating the repository?
I have attached a screenshot of the error and the file directory structure for your reference (the screenshot is named error_screenshot.docx). If there has been any misunderstanding on my part or if my approach was incorrect, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.
I sincerely apologize for the intrusion, and I deeply appreciate you taking the time to read this email amidst your busy schedule. Your work provides a valuable reference for research in this field, and I look forward to your response.
Wishing you continued success in your work and all the best in life!
Sincerely,
Hengqi Guo
