Bosca Ceoil online hasn't worked for a while, and with flash EOL coming up this year, there's not really any way to keep it running into the future. You should update the site and remove reference to it.

Bosca Ceoil linux is in a similar situation - it already required porting back to Air 2.7, and apparently the linux version just isn't working on the latest version of Ubuntu. You can keep the air file around as a legacy thing, but it's probably best to explain the situation on the website and suggest just using Wine (which works quite well for it!).

I'm confused as to why you started this issue, you're the owner(?)
Am I missing something here?
Love Bosca Ceoil!

I’m confused why this is confusing 😅

It’s a to-do list - this note is a task for me to do in the future, once I have time to do it

This makes a lot more sense now - a Github issue todo list!

Love Bosca Ceoil - keep it up!

Hello, I am confused too, I just built a PKGBUILD to publish onto AUR. It works quite well with the available AIR SDK from AUR. I would feel stupid if Bosca Ceoil Linux was dropped.

Oh, I'm just going by what Damien told me by email - he's the Linux maintainer for Bosca Ceoil. He said: "I wondered if you could update the Bosca Ceoil support information for linux as I can't maintain the linux version anymore, and I had a report that it don't work with the latest version of ubuntu. I think a more viable solution in the long run is to use wine with linux, especially now that Adobe Air will be EOLed at the end of the year. Anyway, it's best to mark it as unsupported on linux now."

Anyway, to be more clear, I'm not planning on, e.g. removing any working download links - the plan is to update this page with a more up to date state of things. That's what I meant by keeping it around as a "legacy thing". Don't worry - the download's not going anywhere.

Actually, reading the issue title I can see why this a little worrying, haha. I'll update that, sorry.

I did not know about AIR being EOL, hope you'll find a way out to continue developing this nice tool.

Can you provide a working .swf file for people like me who cannot figure out how to run your Adobe AIR package for desktop but who can open .swf files easily?

I used to use the AIR version but it went downhill pretty quick. Using wine for Ubuntu 20.04 works wonderfully as long as you don't run as sudo! If you run the exe with 'sudo wine' for some reason the audio won't play at all, but just 'wine' works fine.

Hi there !

So I after failing to install AIR on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, I found this issue by googling "bosca ceoil not working linux".

I confirm that Bosca Ceoil works very well with wine. Is it possible to update the website with the correct information?

if you are on a arch linux based, there is a AUR package of Bosca Ceoil, using the windows version with wine
