Thunderware electronic bit readiness

i request your help to understand the software bit as below. because i have limited knowledge in the coding/software related.

Software
Please refer to our wiki for detailed information on the use of the various bits of code kept in this repository.

Five firmware installations must be completed to get the Thunderhead up and running. These are:

Thunderware.ino - for the Arduino mega 2560 that controls the machine (located in the controller box)
StarveFeeder.ino - Upload to the Arduino Nano that controls the starve feeder.
Diameter_Sensor.ino (x2) - Install on both the primary and QC diameter sensor Arduino Nanos.
Spooler.ino - Upload to the Arduino Nano that controls the spooler.
Additionally, there is code written in Processing called Extruder_Data_visualizer.pde that produces real time graphs of the the output of the diameter sensors as well as the outfeed roller RPM. This can be useful for tuning the PID in the primary diameter sensor that controls the filament diameter.

Hi Kannan,

Looks like I haven't updated the README in a while. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll update the firmware bit soon.

The code that runs the extruder needs to be uploaded onto the Arduino Mega controller. This can be done using the Arduino IDE. You can get that HERE. I would recommend getting familiar with Arduino and doing a few basic tutorials to get your feet wet before starting this project. There are many resources on the internet.

Things you should know how to do:

• Upload code to an Arduino using the IDE.
• Make simple modifications to code. For example modify the Blink.ino program to make the LED blink differently.
• Use an Arduino with a simple circuit connected to it. Here's an example with Blink. The Thunderhead is controlled by an Arduino with a bunch of fairly simple circuits connected to it.

If you can already do this, excellent. Then we can move on to things more specific to the extruder.

Hi TechforTrade/Drying_Hopper, Brilliant response. Much appreciated. I would like to jump into arduino learning straight away. I'm a Mechanical engineer. When I saw the cad files, i ve the confident to build up this quickly. But going forward software bits are more important. I'm on my 2nd tutorial. Its a great start until I wait for my Arduino kit.

Great. Video 1 is a great walk through on how to get started. Looks like he gets pretty far "under the hood" in video two. Clear explanations. The video set is a good mix of basic practical skills with in depth explanations.
