I'd like to see a simple guide for how to properly do an interactive rebase. Ideally a real-world example would be helpful.

Outline based on common problems to solve using interactive rebase:

1. How to rename past commit messages
2. How to edit the contents of a past commit
3. How to re-order past commits
4. How to combine commits into a larger one

Use an example set of commits:

• Unit tests for adding method (oldest commit)
• Implement method for adding
• Fix logic
• Add more unit tests
• Tweak variable names (newest commit)

Final result of the commits after interactive rebasing:
