The process has been good overall. Unfortunately I've run into an issue with the connection. I need to gather more data, but the short version is on the ec2 server where this is installed, any method to connect to mysql works fine via mysql client or pdo / iusql testing. However when tableau cloud tries to use the bridge to connect, it fails with The connection to mysql had a fatal error and was disconnected.

The only difference between testing locally successfully and cloud seems to maybe the the unicode encoding. I think cloud is trying to use
UNICODE Using encoding ASCII 'ANSI_X3.4-1968' and UNICODE 'UCS-2LE' but testing local where it works is using UNICODE Using encoding ASCII 'UTF-8' and UNICODE 'UCS-2LE'

I haven't had time to dig into it again, but should be able to next week.

With mysql you need to make sure the locale is set correctly when building your bridge image. BridgeCTL provides the option to select locale=en_US. This should fix the mysql connection problems.

Nice, I think I was on a version right before this was added. Going to upgrade and give it a try.
