Unable to select different GitHub  branches

It doesn’t matter which branch you select and click ‘Continue’ you always get a detached HEAD, but once you have selected the original default branch and re-open the ‘Switch branch’ it shows ‘Current branch’.  

I would expect when ever I select a different branch and then return to the table view that the new branch would say 'Current branch’.
